‘Back in the Water’ was written after I took a class on a nature field trip, one beautiful June day.
We stopped by the river, where they washed stones in the water and brought them to me. We looked closely at the amazing colours in the stones, and at the glinting bits of quartz reflecting the sunlight. It was a magical hour, seeing modern apartment and mall kids discovering the simple beauty of nature.
Since then, hundreds of classes have sang it with me. They love singing the main line ‘back in the water’ the first 2 times softly with me, then for the next 2 times singing loud and with vigour!
It’s been a constant hit for me, and the kids love to rock!
This song will appear on my upcoming itunes album – ‘Music From The Garden’.
Blue is cool on my eye, blue is cool in my soul
Blue is cool on my eye, blue is cool in my soul
* Chorus
Back in the water, back in the water
Back in the water, don’t we love the water
Back in the water, back in the water
Back in the water, don’t we love the water, yeah
Sunny day, woh-oh, sunny day, yeah
Sunny day, woh-oh, sunny day
* Repeat Chorus
Gather up the stones……hold ‘em in your hand
Water ‘em down………….lay ‘em in the sand
Feeling alive……………….listen to the stream
Living inside……….………a summery dream
* Repeat Chorus
