“Jungle Snake” has always been a hit with kids – particularly with the primary grades, ages 5-8. It’s in a style of Folk-Blues/Jazz, and can be found on my itunes album – ‘Autumn In The Valley’. I wrote this one after realizing I had no songs about snakes or about the jungle.
One of the reasons I believe kids love my songs so much is that I employ a range of musical styles – rock and roll, blues, jazz, folk, reggae, rock, etc. – so they groove more than the traditional kiddy-type songs. And the lyrics add to this by not talking down, rather they celebrate nature and life and travel and history and more with simple choruses that kids pick up right away!
